Yoga?????????????????????

Summer is beginning and i usually do yoga during the summer. well i was wondering if there are any books for preteens for yoga..and if you have any ideas of what to do daily for yoga.|||I did an Amazon.com search on yoga for teens, and found a good selection of books. This one got some good reviews:

http://www.amazon.com/Breathe-Teens-Mary...

And here is the list that came up when I searched, take a look and see, there are quite a few books here:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_b?url=...

I myself use http://www.yogatoday.com, it%26#039;s a site that offers a choice of 7 classes per week, 1 hr long each, completely free, and covers all styles of yoga, from beginner to advanced. If you decide to try it, don%26#039;t be too discouraged or hard on yourself, these teachers on this site are really good, and if you stick with it and keep trying, you%26#039;ll learn a lot about yoga and your body will feel great.

Another free website with free classes is http://www.yogamazing.com, and he offers shorter classes of about 20 minutes each. His you can download to an ipod if you want to. He is rather chatty, which I found distracting, but you might like him, so give it a shot. :)

Good luck!|||Light on Yoga by B K S Iyengar is considered authentic.

Yoga ?

I%26#039;m a dancer, so I think it may be easier for me to pick up yoga than others. Is this true? Just because of the strength and flexibility thing?

I would really like to take a class, it seems like something I would like to try!|||Yoga isn%26#039;t really about strength and flexibiltiy. It%26#039;s about like calming down and breathing. It%26#039;s actually really boring.|||Yoga is all about focus calming your body, mind and spirit, yes.

But it is much more than that as well it can be about strenghth and flexibility. As a dancer you would most likely enjoy Yoga Sun Salutation, it can be done slowly and once you have the rhythm of it you can quicken the pace to make it more aerobic. Give it a try.|||For a dancer, yoga might be hard because it involves sitting and doing nothing, just calming your mind and breathing deeply. It teaches you to relax and breath so that when a stressful situation comes you can relax instead of tensing your body unnecessarily. It might seem boring at first, but if you realize the it%26#039;s relaxing affect, you%26#039;ll begin to see it%26#039;s benefits.|||Yep, yoga is very nice especially when it%26#039;s combined with dance and other artistic activities.. It helps you to stay motivated and build your mind/body balance.. It%26#039;s useful for flexibility also. Go to www.collagevideo.com and they have a bunch of yoga dvd%26#039;s you can purchase. Check www.YogaJournal.com they have a bunch of article and also see www.totalvid.com,you can down load workouts to your computer. Good luck

Is it not recommended to do any cardio work after a yoga class?

Is it not recommended to do any cardio work after a yoga class?

I have been told this by a yoga instructor, though it makes little sense to me and I would like to keep doing treadmill exercise straight after- Is there any reason I shouldn%26#039;t?|||My suggestion is to ask your yoga instructor the reasoning behind their advice. I see that you are getting conflicting answers here as well, so I think the best thing to do is ask your yoga instructor.

Good luck!|||I would generally avoid combining any cardio with yoga or lifting weights. This is because your blood glucose levels are low after any intense activity and you will not be able to perform the subsequent activity with anywhere near the concentration levels or effort that you can by itself. In addition workouts of more than 90 minutes tend to depress the immune system. If you cannot avoid combining then I would recommend that the cardio come after lifting weights or yoga. This way your nutrients are spent in the activities that build and strengthen muscles and generally cardio doesnt require the same concentration and awareness that yoga or lifting weights does.|||There%26#039;s no reason why you can%26#039;t do a cardio workout after yoga. In fact, the class should be a very good warm up for your muscles and cardio can have a calming effect on the body just as yoga does. If it%26#039;s more convenient for you, it%26#039;s a must. The important thing is to get the cardio into your exercise plan. After all, it%26#039;s the most beneficial exercise for your heart, lungs, blood vessels, and skin. Best of luck to you!|||There is no reason! You can do yoga before or after your cardio work, definitely.

Be consistent and go on with the exercises.

Best|||it is best to do the yoga last so you can stretch muscles from your workout. it reduces chances of injury you must do basic stretches before the cardio

What role does the circulatory system play in yoga?

I have a project to do about how the circulatory system is important in some specific physical activity, and i chose yoga.

links to info websites would be good.

thanks!|||okay I went ahead and googled %26quot;yoga circulatory system%26quot; (which you can do too!) because I was curious about the specific ways in which yoga affects the system.

Here is a page with a link referring to the circulatory system and some details on how different poses benefit the system.

http://www.abc-of-yoga.com/yoga-and-heal...

I also found this link to a preview of a book that details some more: http://books.google.com/books?id=K5WaYzB...

So try different combinations of searches, and don%26#039;t limit yourself to just the internet. Try the library, and ask about searching periodicals about your subject.

Good luck!

How can i start practicing yoga?

i m totally drowned in the sea of sadness.I lost my love, lost my self-confidence. Now i think my life is a burden for all. i want to recover fast from this mental agony. please help. i dont know even the abc of yoga. will yoga help me heal my wounds? please tell me how to start? i m in deep trouble now. please help. |||Dear lord, the first few responses there must of not read your post at all.

First and foremost, I%26#039;m very sorry to what%26#039;s happened to you. I%26#039;ve been there [drowning in sadness, maybe depression] and truthfully, I can tell you what I did and what advice helped me through it. I can%26#039;t say you will recover quick, because I don%26#039;t know what you%26#039;ve been through, and I don%26#039;t know how long it will take to heal. But if you do these, I can guarantee you WILL heal, just how long it will take ... I don%26#039;t know.

First off, about Yoga. Yoga might help you gain a piece of mind. It%26#039;s about meditation, maintaining a calm, and about sustaining a certain peace of mind. I don%26#039;t know if it might work for you, but if you rigorously do it it will work.

I highly suggest a teacher, because when you are in the presence of a GOOD yoga teacher, they are tremendously calming and helpful. My mother passed away a year ago and I took a yoga class to force myself into a calmness. It was TOO difficult to do on my own, and even in the class I resisted him -- but eventually, I learned how to calm myself and now to meditate... be able to get myself away from those negative feelings, or neutralize them with logical, detached thought. Meditation takes a great deal of practicing - you will, for months, have a racing mind of everything you%26#039;re thinking of. LET THIS HAPPEN. Let your mind cleanse itself with all of thoughts. Do not resist them, do not lock them away... in meditation it helps you organize your thoughts, and eventually, when you feel its organized... it will be a clear blank, like a calm sea.

If you can%26#039;t find classes, I suggest youtube movies. I don%26#039;t know what teacher would make you most comfortable, so I won%26#039;t do the search for you. But looking for yoga movies would be your first step - WATCH how they are. Once you understand the culture of yoga, then get yourself a book to extend your knowledge of certain positions.

On other notes... on how to make yourself feel better: give yourself a make over, get a hair cut, go out and get yourself a nice cute outfit, treat yourself, go out with friends, whatever you do... DON%26#039;T STOP MOVING. I was told, when my boyfriend broke up with me the day of the funeral (he thought I was selfish asking him to come), this: %26quot;When in hell, don%26#039;t stop moving.%26quot; And I didn%26#039;t. I got all of that negative energy out by doing good things for others, going out with friends, improving MYSELF (working out, learning new hairstyles, doing my nails, you name it I did it) until the months went by... and not only was I able to heal, but I really truly improved myself... and eventually found someone else who loved me.

I hope that helps, and I wish you the best of luck.|||Preparing for a yoga practice is essential as this will enable you to receive all the Health Benefits of the poses, breathing, and meditations. The greatest advantage of yoga is that it can be practiced almost anywhere by people of all ages.

We recommend that you wear comfortable, loose, and stretchable clothing as this will allow the freest movement of the body. To give you the most stability and a greater connection in poses, practices should be done barefoot. Practicing yoga on a relatively empty stomach or about one to two hours after a full meal is essential. Doing poses and breath work right after eating or drinking can place stress on the digestive system. Also, Create a Yoga Space that is free of distractions and is mentally soothing.

You can practice yoga anytime, but the most ideal time to practice is first thing in the morning. The poses and breath work will revitalize the mind and body and prepare you for the day ahead. Always begin with easier poses to warm and condition your body and, then, gradually progress towards more energizing poses. Avoid any feelings of strain, discomfort, or excess fatigue. Practice with the intention of quality and control rather than quantity and struggle. Allow yourself time to relax or modify poses, if needed. All aspects of a yoga practice are equally important, so take time to enjoy the entire practice including the meditations and relaxations. The length of a yoga session is not important, but devote some amount of time for yoga every day.|||Yogs is very simple and definetly help you come out of your sea of sadness and energise you, it can be even in first 10 minutes that you feel relax whatever the case may. Yoga has helped cure cancers leave alone anything else. however to start try this website which is relaxing yoga for beginners. http://www.relaxingyogaforbeginners.com

I hope above helps, i have been through your situation and know how it feels, i am sure this resource will help you. |||Hey! Thats great that you are actually -trying- help yourself. Its the first step. I used to do yoga and it helpes with relaxation and concentration, but it did little for my physical health, which is why I picked up jogging. I started by watching this daily yoga program on TV. Try looking for one. If not, buy a yoga DVD. Pilates is okay, but yoga is best imo. DOnt buy those DVDs with happy bouncy woman who shout at you. Look for one of a person who looks experienced and knows what they are talking about. Also, consider in going to the nearest book store (borders?) and read up on some yoga. Buy a book if you want!

After all this, you can try even MORE to better help yourself. Eating healthy, regular exercise, etc.

Good luck, and DO NOT give up! |||Be positive! Yes you can start yoga. At home in your own privacy, or in a yoga class if you want that.. I have a free yoga e-course for you, with many yogic asanas and their physiological benefits, as well as breathing techniques, you%26#039;ll need to learn it for your practice. Go here:

http://www.yoga-health-beauty-energy.com|||After 7 surgeries I started doing yoga and meditation. I now have control of my health as long as I remember to meditate or do some yoga. Even if it is taking 10 minutes twice a day, that%26#039;s all I need. Yoga and meditation can be done by anybody pretty much anywhere, if I can do it anyone can.. |||Get out of the house, take good long walks even in cold weather. Go to parks with your friends, go to nice cafe%26#039;s and such. Restore your happiness!

Also it%26#039;s nice to have a proper yoga teacher, someone that you can trust will do you good! You may even become really good friends with her!

Good luck! =]

X|||look up yoga on youtube and just do what those people do. i would do it 5 times a week since its not such a hard workout. its suppose to relax you and make you more flexable and energized.|||You start practicing by practicing, duh. They have videos and classes everywhere.
